Terms of service
The plain-English terms for website and business tool projects, and care plans.
Last updated: 14 October 2026
Who I am
These terms are between you, the business owner, and John Knot trading as Front Door Sites (“I” or “me”).
- Address for legal notices: PO Box 3867, Mtunzini, 3867
- Email: hello@frontdoorsites.co.za
- WhatsApp: +27 73 242 6068
- Website: frontdoorsites.co.za
They cover website and business tool projects (“the work”) and the optional care plans. By paying a deposit or a care plan fee, you agree to them.
Quotes
- Every project starts with a written quote, based on a mock-up (for websites) or a written plan (for tools). The quote says what’s included.
- Quotes are valid for 30 days.
- The price is fixed for the agreed scope. If you ask for something that isn’t in the quote, I tell you what it costs first and only do it once you’ve said yes.
Paying for the work
- You pay a 50% deposit to start. I start once it has reached me.
- You pay the other 50% when you approve the finished work, before it goes live.
- You pay by EFT, with my bank details on your quote.
- All prices are in South African rand.
Third-party costs
Some projects use services from other companies, like booking software subscriptions, payment gateway fees, SMS or email sending, or paid integrations. You pay for these directly, and I always list them in your quote.
I’m not responsible for those companies’ prices, outages or changes, but I’ll help where I can.
Your content and your data
- You’re responsible for the text, photos, logos, prices and other content you send me, and for having the right to use it. I publish it as you send it, so please check your details.
- Data in a business tool (like your clients, bookings or orders) belongs to you. You can export it at any time. I only look at it to build, support or fix the tool.
Who owns what
- Once the work is paid in full, the website or tool is yours, including its design and code.
- I may reuse general building blocks that aren’t specific to you, like layout patterns or pieces of code, in other projects. I never reuse your content, your branding or your data.
- Your domain is registered in your name. A website build includes the first year. After that, the renewal is covered by a care plan, or you pay it yourself.
If you stop a project
If you decide to stop before the work is finished, tell me in writing (WhatsApp or email is fine). You pay for the work done so far, up to the amount of the deposit, and I hand over what has been built.
Care plans
- Care plans are optional. They run month-to-month, and you can cancel with 30 days’ notice. There’s no minimum term.
- You pay care plan fees by EFT, using the bank details on your invoice.
- You can pay a care plan yearly instead: 12 months for the price of 10, paid upfront. A yearly plan renews for another year unless you tell me at least 30 days before the renewal date, and yearly fees aren’t refunded for unused months.
- Without a care plan, I hand over the files so you can host the website or tool anywhere. Hosting it is then up to you.
Small edits
- A small edit is a text, price, photo or hours change to something already there. Your care plan says how many you get each month. Unused edits don’t carry over.
- I do edits in a weekly batch. Edits sent by Thursday go live by Monday.
- Bigger changes, like new pages, new features or a redesign, and any work outside a care plan, are quoted per job, from R500. I only start once you’ve accepted the quote.
Late care plan payments
Care plan fees are due by the date on your invoice. If a payment is late, I’ll send you a reminder. If it’s still unpaid 14 days after the due date, your website shows a “temporarily unavailable” page until the payment comes through. It comes back as soon as you’ve paid.
What I can and can’t promise
I use reliable hosting and do my best to keep your website or tool online, fast and secure, but nothing online works 100% of the time. I can’t guarantee search rankings, bookings or sales.
Liability
As far as the law allows, my total liability to you is limited to the fees you paid me in the 3 months before the problem happened. I’m not liable for indirect losses, like lost bookings or profit. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, if it applies to you.
Privacy
How I handle personal information is explained in the privacy policy.
Changes to these terms
I may update these terms from time to time. If a change affects you, I’ll tell you at least 30 days before it applies. The quote you accepted stays as agreed.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa.
